Fix or Replace?

Often, upon examination of the damage to a vehicle’s front or rear bumper, our repair professionals at Carmona’s Collision Repair determine that the bumper is still functional and can be restored to its original appearance, which can obviously reduce the repair costs.

After evaluation of the damage, we’ll repair any minor deformation and scratches. If, however, the damage is too severe to ensure the bumper can do its job adequately, we’ll install a new bumper. In either case, our paint professionals will then paint the bumper to match the rest of the vehicle, restoring the bumper to like-new condition.

Some Bumper History:

Since around 1960, most modern passenger vehicles no longer sport metal bumpers, instead utilizing bumpers molded from a combination of various synthetic polymers. The two principle reasons for this were that metal bumpers were more expensive to manufacture and that plastic bumpers could better absorb the shock of minor impacts without sustaining significant damage.

A collateral benefit of lessening the shock to a vehicle’s occupants proved to be an important bonus.
